The theme expands on the common LEGO bricks using a wide range of special pieces that provide new functions and require the use of advanced building techniques. The beams are one of the major components that make a big difference in the LEGO Technic sets. They are the single-stud wide ‘beams’ that have rows of circular holes that can accommodate pins. The LEGO Technic Heavy Lift Helicopter set is an impressive model that features an array of motorized functions including a working winch, contra-rotating rotors, and a loading ramp.
